I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your blog about custodians. I'm a custodian (Cleaning Lady), and sometimes I don't feel like my job is very glamorous. Which it isn't but it is important. I was actually on the internet to look up a more glamorous name then custodian. But after I have read the definition I'm not as ashamed of the name anymore. It's great to be a caretaker of the buildings.

Hi, Bill,

I laughed and laughed at this story--and then I sent the link to all my children (married now with children of their own). They all separately called me to tell me that they had read the story, loved it and laughed until they cried. Several commented that they could almost hear your voice telling it. My kids have great memories of listening to you both in person and on tape/cd from "Zanzibar" to "The Town Around the Bend," so I was a hero for passing this along. Thanks!

Spending the holidays with our grandchildren has been eye-opening. I have truly forgotten, until this time in history, what it was like to be soo innocent. Thank you so much for the ways you brighten all our lives.

Oh thank you - that's so true (of the parties when we were kids) and so very funny (now!). That was a great story, although I'm a little bit glad I never liked pigs in a blanket to begin with... :) Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I had a similar Christmas experience. I can still hear my mother say, "that damn candy cane" as I huddled over the toilet losing my Christmas treats.

It wasn’t funny then.

But it’s funny now.

Oh so true of so many parts of our lives . . . .
Thanks for great story!

Thank you for your thoughtful take on children and difficult topics. Children often handle difficult stories better than their parents do. Heart and mind are one.
