I think you are right about school culture. You can tell a lot about a school in a very short time. I’d like to think that those schools with a personal feel are those that promote exciting curriculum, strive to meet the needs of all students, and constantly think of the whole child.
I know that our school came alive with your visit. It made our school such a good place to be!
Bill, you’re going good. Your stories hare have given me so many ideas I may have to get creative again.
Great stuff. This is was a joy to read.
I totally agree
Dear Bill,
Thanks for a wonderful performance in Keene this evening. Here is a link to Amazon’s listings with regard to Big Bill Neidjie:

I had hopes for the Brown University Library, but they don’t have much – two books with chapters or otherwise references to the fellow.
For what it’s worth,
Tony
Thanks Tony. Made it home!
Dear Bill, I am so happy to read your stories, about Brother Blue, about schools, about food, and particularly about making mistakes and admitting failure.
I often make mistakes and find that it is alright to share them. Sometimes I do when I am brave enough. It is like asking for help. It does not mean you are helpless, but rather that you know that sharing a burden is so much better than struggling alone.
And your writing is so clear and paints a picture (of course, the photos are wonderful too). Thank you so much for sharing your life with us in this way. I feel grateful for knowing you. Love, Nancy
Thanks Nancy.
Raised both my children LOVING your music! Now that they are in thier teens, occasionally a phrase or chorus from one of your songs surfaces. “Hot Cock a lorum” is one such phrase. Help! Its from a song about an old man…and a little boy… I cant seem to find it. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Charlie

+1
About fourteen years ago my family checked out the tape “Monsters in the Bathroom” from the library and listened to it nonstop on a road trip from Illinois to the North Carolina coast (and back; thankfully our parents enjoyed it as much as we did). We loved it! Listened that library tape to death and had to buy a replacement. I still remember much of it word-for-word, and Abiyoyo, Freddy the fly-eating frog, the freedom bird, and all the rest have become the stuff of legend around in our home. Thanks for creating such delightfulness.
I’m so glad Stephen Graham posted your most recent blog. I was excited for you that you were at the Grammy’s, and to read of your experiences.
My kids grew up seeing you perform around Rhode Island. I’ve started sharing one of your CDs with a six-year old, soon to be seven-year old. The Cd you produced with freedom songs is a regular part of the professional development I provide for early childhood educators and school-age care professionals. Thank you for the wonderful work you have done, and continue to do.

This blog is so cool. I love listening to your music, especially ” everybody’s a baby about something!”
